My interests are varied, from the Chinese language to law to databases to international economic development to risk to financial markets to entrepreneurship to technology to aviation. However, in this age of ubiquitous search and wikipedia, I find that the number of "authoritative" or essential sites is far fewer than a few years ago. Nevertheless, a few of my favorites.

A few sites I used to use in my Chinese study were Professor Tim Xie's site, Rutger's Multimedia site and the electronic dictionary at zhongwen.com

I try to attend NY Tech meetup as often as possible, and have brought foreign entrepreneurs with me at times.

I am a flight instructor and do ground training in Manhattan. Information can be found at Gotham Ground Training. The list of aviation related sites there is pretty good

You can look up any FAA certificated pilot, mechanic or dispatcher on the Lookup form on the FAA website. I use this to a surprising degree
